Becks out of World Cup

Primary activity

Vox Pop

Will David Beckham be missed in the World Cup? Today you are going to take to the playground with either your video cameras, cameras, notebooks, pens or your podcasting kits and ask people throughout your school that very same question.

This way of interviewing people, to gain a quick snapshot of public opinion, is called a vox pop. It is a fun way of getting lots of responses to something quickly. But try to make sure they don't answer just yes or no!

Make sure you ask the same question to each person. But you will also need to collect the following information about the people - their names (make sure you spell them correctly), their ages and where they live.

Once you have got a good selection (at least 10) of people you can decide what to do with your information.

If you have their pictures and noted down their answers in your notebook then why not put them onto a Word document. Remember to include their names, ages and addresses. For example you could put Miss Smart, Y4 teacher, 27, of Barnsley said: "I feel really sorry for Becks - he is such a fantastic player and lends a lot of maturity to the side."

Alternatively, you could edit your podcast or your video to do the same thing. Then arrange another session in class when you could showcase them all!

What do you think about Beck's injury - will he be missed in the World Cup or is it time for him to move over and let some younger talent have a go? Don't keep your thoughts to yourself - just click on Have your say and let everyone know! Or send longer reports or podcasts to Be a reporter and we will put the best online.
