Secondary activity

Project on one biome

In pairs choose one of the world's biomes, for example "hot desert". See the link in Find out more if you're not quite sure what a biome is.

You are going to do a project on your chosen biome.

First of all on a blank world map, outline the geographic area/s of your chosen biome.

Write a detailed description of your chosen biome.

Now investigate further. What animals, birds, plants and insects live in your chosen biome? How has your biome been affected by extinctions of different species? Try to compare your biome now with 50 years or so ago.

How has your biome changed over time? How do you think it will change in the future?

Do you feel worried about extinctions of species across the world? Send you thoughts to Have your say or longer articles or podcasts to Be a reporter.
